Nico Navia is a Colombian-born cinematographer based out of Los Angeles, CA. He began his career navigating all aspects of film production in his adopted hometown of Miami, FL and later on in New York City where he developed a passion for the art and craft of cinematography while attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Nico’s experience behind the camera consists of projects ranging from narrative, documentary and commercials for companies such as Netflix, Google, Microsoft, Mastercard, The New York Times and Mercedes Benz among others. His most recent feature film, DESERT ROAD, will be premiering at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival . An avid traveler, Nico has had the fortune of working throughout the US and abroad in Colombia, Argentina, The Bahamas, Iceland, France, Aruba, Puerto Rico and the Czech Republic.

Nico is a graduate of the American Film Institute with an MFA in Cinematography. Throughout his training, he had the privilege of having a distinguished list of mentors such as Stephen Lighthill, ASC, Bob Primes, ASC, and Rodney Taylor, ASC.

Nico strives to perfect his art by continuing to learn and expand his skills on every project. His consistent objective is to support the director’s vision with light, composition and movement while devoting 100% of his energy to each and every frame. A native of Bogotá, Colombia Nico is fluent in Spanish. When not on set he enjoys baking, camping and shooting stills on his beloved Hasselblad 500cm. He currently lives in Boyle Heights, California with his partner and adopted neighborhood cat.
